The Salvation Army in Finland celebrates 130 years
2019 is the 130th anniversary of The Salvation Army in Finland.
Officers Constantin Boije af Gennäs, Hedvig von Haartman and Alva Forsius, straight out of officer training in London, organised the first meeting of The Salvation Army at Siltasaari circus riding ring in Hakaniemi on 8November 1889. That was the beginning of the activities of The Salvation Army in Finland. After initial difficulties the movement spread all over the country. Over the decades, The Salvation Army in Finland has affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
